INFORMATION:

PICTURE RETAKES: MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 25

Attention Seniors and Sophomores
School Traditions will be here on Friday, September 22, to speak to the seniors and sophomores. We will be running the Pep Rally Schedule that day. During the Pep Rally time, all seniors will meet in the Titan Theater to discuss ordering graduation products. At the same time all sophomores will meet in the south gym to discuss ordering class rings. Although ordering of products will be at the discretion of the parent and student, seniors that are walking in the Graduation ceremony in May must order a cap and gown.

LIBRARY INFO: Half Price Fines will run through Tuesday, Sept 26th. Due to testing we will have a mobile library desk outside the library doors. Fine notices will be ready Monday morning for distribution. Students will need to have fines paid to purchase their Homecoming tickets.

The library will be closed for MAPS testing. We will re-open sometime Wednesday, Sept 27. There will be limited computer access before and after school. We will not accept Study Hall students. The library will also be closed during lunches. We will post an alternate lunch location once we have that information.

HOCO 2017 INFO:
Homecoming Spirit Week!

The annual homecoming football game and homecoming dance are NEXT WEEK! As a celebration, join in on the fun and dress up for our spirit week! This year’s themes are:

  • “I woke up like this” Monday
  • Tie Dye Tuesday
  • Tacky Tourist Wednesday
  • Jersey Day Thursday
  • America! Friday

Students who dress up may come to Ms. Kelly’s room, B18, to be entered into a costume contest to win a $10 gift card! Spirit week starts off this upcoming Monday with “I woke up like this”!

Homecoming DANCE Information
The Homecoming dance will be held Saturday Sept. 30th from 8-11 pm here at PLSHS. Tickets are on sale NOW through Thursday Sept. 28th only. Tickets will cost $10 each and can be purchased in Titan Town. NO TICKETS WILL BE SOLD AT THE DOOR.
A pass from the library stating you are cleared from all library fines must be brought to Titan Town and all outstanding class fees and fines must be paid prior to purchasing your Homecoming tickets.
GUESTS: If you are bringing a guest from another school you must have the Guest Registration form filled out and brought to Titan Town for approval NO LATER THAN WEDNESDAY, Sept. 27th.

ATHLETICS/CLUBS/ACTIVITIES:
KEY CLUB: Key Club members encourage you to Go Gold for Gehring this week during lunch by participating in a penny war between grade levels. Raid your piggy banks and bring change to make a change! All money will be donated to Emma Strong to help fund the battle against pediatric brain tumors.

GAMING CLUB BUSINESS MEETING: FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 22 @ 3:30 IN D06.
All members are welcome, but only officers are required to attend. We will be discussing the dates for the Fall Cosplay Party, Sony Virtual Reality demos, and NukeCon Aftershock.

SPEECH - MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 25 @ 3:30 IN B06
If you missed the info meeting for the speech team, our first practice is Monday 9/25 from 3:30-7pm in room B06. Even if you are in the musical or a fall sport, you can join. We try to work around commitments you have already made. Please see Ms. Hicks for an info packet or just show up to Monday’s practice.

Cyber Patriot - Cyber Security Competition.
Meeting will be on 9/26 at 3:30pm in D-07.

Boys Soccer Information Meeting - Tuesday, September 26 @ 7:30 & 3:30 in D03 -
Interested in playing HS soccer? Don’t miss our first meeting on Tuesday, September 26th. You can attend before school (7:30 - 7:45) or after school (3:30 - 3:45). If you can’t make either meeting, talk to Coach Morris in Room D-08 or contact Coach Lawrence.

MICROFINANCE CLUB: TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 26 @ 7:30 IN F08
Microfinance Club will be meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 26 at 7:30 a.m. in F08. We will be making loans to people all over the world. Come be a part of making loans that change lives and join our club!

QUIZ BOWL: FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 29 @ 7:30 IN E05
Interested in joining Quiz Bowl? Please join us Friday morning, September 29th at 7:30 in Mrs. Cushing’s room E05. If you cannot make the building, please email or see Mrs. Cushing.

CULINARY CLUB - TUESDAY, OCTOBER 3 @ 3:30 IN FOODS ROOM
The next Culinary Club meeting will be Tuesday, October 3 at 3:30-5:00 in the Foods room-B-09. Dues for the year are $20 or $5/each time you attend.
Come enjoy making some food and socializing. More details to follow later. See Mrs. Dornbusch is you have any questions.

STEP SQUAD: WEDNESDAYS and FRIDAYS
Got rhythm and a good attitude? Want to promote school spirit? Come to one of our Step Squad practices to find out more! Practice will be held Wednesdays and Fridays from 3:30 pm - 4:30 pm right outside of the Cafeteria.

COLLEGE POSSIBLE
College Possible is available for juniors and seniors. Meeting times for College Possible is Mondays and Wednesdays, from 3:30 pm - 5:30 pm. Juniors will meet in the Career Ed Center while seniors will meet in room B16. If you want to know more - come talk to one of our College Possible representatives in Career Ed!

LEO CLUB DONATIONS: Titans are collecting blankets for the Open Door Mission during the month of September. Please consider donating a new or gently-used blanket to the cause. Donations are in E03 (Anne Marie Thornton's room).

KEY CLUB: Key Club members will be hosting a penny drive for Childhood Cancer Awareness next week during lunch. Raid your piggy banks and bring change to make a change! More info to come next week - begins on Monday!
KEY CLUB: If you are available today after school to make a poster for next week’s penny drive, stop by room B20. Should take 15-20 minutes. Thanks!

GIRLS BASKETBALL OPEN GYM:
Girls basketball open gym has begun. We will have these sessions on most Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday mornings. Any questions see Coach Gerlecz in room E09.

ENHANCED DRIVING SKILLS FOR TEENS EVENT
On Thursday, October 19, Ford Driving Skills for Life will be holding a FREE enhanced driving skills for teens event. See the attached flyer for more details.

CLASS OF 2018:

SENIOR PORTRAITS
If you'd like to submit a professional portrait to appear in the yearbook in the place of your school photo, the deadline is Dec. 15. Submitted portraits must be vertical (2" x 3"), full color and of your head and torso only - no legs! Backgrounds and props are acceptable, so long as they are school-appropriate. Photos need to be saved as JPEGs with 300 ppi resolution and sent to seniorpicspls@gmail.com. Most photographers will do this at your request. Please talk to Mrs. Albracht in room B10 if you have questions.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY:
Are you looking for volunteer hours? Well, CHI Health Midlands is currently looking for volunteers! We need volunteers to help bake our homemade holiday fruitcakes. The gourmet fruitcakes have been an annual fundraising tradition for Midlands Hospital over the past 30 years. Assignments can be tailored to fit all abilities or limitations. Buttering pans, measuring ingredients, mixing batter, and baking the cakes will begin next week.
